It takes a lot to design a video hosting platform from the ground up, but we’ve been working on projectbase for 4 years now and we’d finally like to introduce to you: projectbase version 6!
Originally known as the “Archive Service”, projectbase seeks to completely revolutionise how audio/visual projects are presented to audiences. We’ve ram-packed version 6 to have all the features you could ever ask for! These include:
- Improved page layouts for accessibility and viewing on smaller screens
- Extensive information and metadata available for all projects
- Sharing tools
- Galleries and a greater focus on clips and extras
- Full credits lists and integration with The Creative Network
- Music credits and links to streaming sites
- Built-in reviews of the projects or the content they depict
- Direct integration with our online shop, for purchasing DVD copies
- Strong integration with IMS Sync to license projects and original materials
- Absolutely no geo-blocking, so you can enjoy projects from anywhere in the world!
Let’s dissect some of these features to show you just how significant they are.
Improved layouts and mobile performance
One major flaw with all previous versions of our website has been mobile responsiveness and accessibility. We’ve spent the past few months completely redesigning our website and page templates so that they look and work great on mobile devices! Plus, it’s also given us the chance to make sure that our layouts aren’t too messy. We’ve recruited a bunch of UX testers who have been vital in giving us feedback on our new designs.
Credits Lists and TCN Integration
Within the arts industries, many performers and crew find themselves going unnoticed and without credit. Seeing first hand how the industries operate, we took it upon ourselves to take action and make a difference. All of our projectbase listings will include full credits lists where possible, even with roles and character names. Version 6 also brings along an exciting new integration – The Creative Network. Alongside projectbase, we’ve been developing a whole-new portfolio platform for creatives, called The Creative Network (TCN). We’ll be publishing more information about this soon, but featured creatives will also get avatar icons and links to their profiles on every projectbase project they appear in.
IMS Sync and Licensing
As a publisher, we know it’s important that we provide the right tools to content creators, journalists, other publishers and individuals. From previous experience, we know our projects have been sought after from all sorts of companies and individuals, and also that they’ve been stolen on a regular basis. Our third exciting integration, with IMS Sync, allows individuals and organisations to request licences to use our content. IMS Licensing also deals with all of our copyright infringement issues we face from those who try to steal our content. All creators are encouraged to contact IMS first through this new and pain-free system.
And there you have it! We’ll be releasing more information about all of our embedded services and more about what you can expect from projectbase soon! ProjectBase will officially open 1st September 2020, with featured projects added every Tuesday after that.
